Love Your Brain / Kevin Pearce (Healing Trauma Summit)

- In Dec 31, 2009 during the Olympic training as a star in the snowboarders; Kevin suffered from severe traumatic brain injury, not having a college education as he loved this sport more than anything in his life. Despite the fact that Kevin's career brought to an end that day; his determination & drive to overcome the catastrophe thru vigorous rehabilitation, personal training & giving back to others continues to inspire his family, friends & fans every day.
Watch: Kevin Pearce documentary the crash reel

- One of the best things happened to Kevin after this injury is getting rid of all these ANTS (Automatic Negative Thoughts) in his brain:

- We have the power to control our thoughts; we don't have to believe every single thought you have

- In the above picture shows how much less activity in your brain with the negative thought, against the case in positive thoughts .. it's like firing your neuro brain. For Kevin: Lots of positive & grateful thoughts has come from Yoga & meditation. Thinking about your breath.. slow this crazy brain.. being calm & finding healing, & despite being told by the doctors that he would never be able to be healed from doubled vision; yet after 8 years from injury he was able to take off his glasses.

There's nothing you can't do

- Loving your brain includes: exercising daily, eating healthy brain positive food.

- Out of his story; came the idea of  founding : "Love your brain":

- In dealing with people suffering from Trauma; Patience is the most important part , you need to be a little bit more easy on people.

Kevin in his TEDEX talk said:
"My focus used to be on winning the Olympic gold, but now my focus is on living the most mindful present life possible"

We need to learn how to live life today as we might not be here tomorrow.. you only have today
